Scientific Officer at European Commission, JRC IPTS, Seville
IPTS is inviting, on behalf of DG Education and Culture, all experts, practitioners, educators and all other stakeholders in the field of Open Education to develop, on a maximum of 5 pages, imaginary visions on Open Education 2030. These papers will contribute to guiding European policy makers in shaping and focusing the upcoming Open Education Initiative,

The call asks contributors to concentrate on one (or several) of the three education sectors: Lifelong Learning (deadline: 31 March), School Education (deadline: 28 April), and Higher Education (deadline: 7 May). Within these areas, authors are free to address and focus on any issue they deem crucial for the future of Open Education, considering, in particular: learners, teachers, organisational and socio-economic aspects. The visions developed can be normative or descriptive, idealistic or provocative, critical or imaginary, reflective or polemic, imaginative or concrete, comprehensive or selective, general or specific. For more information, please have a look at our website:

We believe that this is a great opportunity for experts and policy makers to join forces in making change happen in education. That's why we hope to be able to count on a great number of contributions. Submit your vision and encourage colleagues and collaborators to join in by submitting their visions as well, so that a lively debate can emerge!

All papers submitted will be published online on our website and will constitute a starting point for a discussion on the role of Open Educational Resources and Practices in the future of the education in Europe. Additionally, the authors of the best papers will be invited to participate in one of three dedicated high-level foresight workshops, the results of which will support the European Commission new initiative on "Opening-up Education" to be launched mid-2013.

We are looking forward to receiving your contribution!
